This is abstract art created by my 6-year-old daughter. Now you might ask yourself, what’s so special about a 6-year-olds scribbles? And I’ll ask you, why is it any less beautiful or important because she’s 6? If an adult made it, especially an adult with a reputation as a world-renowned artist, would it be more important then? Probably.
Look at the artwork and look at the joy in it. You can see that she had fun with the medium, the tactile sensation of using it, and playing with colors. Isn’t that the purpose of art? Now don’t get me wrong, she’s produced some things I don’t find very visually appealing. But I’ve curated a selection of her artwork that I love and brings me joy to look at. I’ll post more pictures below.
I’ve turned her artwork into shirts and leggings. You can find them here in my Threadless shop. I think they look darn good, especially on the leggings. I have Abstract 6 as a shirt, and the smile on her face when she realized I was wearing her art melted my heart. You should see her room. We told her she was allowed to paint it how she wanted, and the walls look about like the sample of art I have here. But I know I’m supporting a future artist. I’m telling her to go for it, to test the limits, and I always find something positive to say about whatever she creates and shows me.
Didn’t we all need that as kids? I’m parenting her in the way I wish I was parented. I’m supporting her in the way I wish I was supported. Even though her room is a chaotic mess of color, it’s her space, and she owns it. We can always paint over it when it’s time to move.
I’ll put a few more pictures on the bottom of this page. Please note that her artwork is for personal use ONLY and is NOT for commercial purposes.
I sincerely hope the art and the message helps you like it’s helped me. #IWantTheHappy #ItGivesTheHappy I wish you all the happies.
